What do the F1, F1b and F2 titles mean?
AnswerWhen a golden retriever and standard poodle are bred to produce first generation golden doodle puppies, the puppies are titled F1 and have equal parts golden retriever and standard poodle characteristics. When F1 golden doodle puppies are bred to produce a second generation of true golden doodles with equal parts golden retriever and standard poodle, they are still titled F1. If more poodle qualities are required to produce nonshedding, hypoallegenic or intelligence qualities, a golden doodle F1 is bred with a full bred standard poodle and those puppies are titled F1b or first generation golden doodle bred back to poodle. To get F2 pups, two non related F1b's are bred together. We do not have any F2's at this time, but we plan to have they soon. Category |
As the Obama's were deciding on a puppy we sent them a letter regarding our pups. Although they ended up chosing a Portuguese water dog, Michelle Obama was kind enough to reespond. |
